I arrived at their home around 6am, just after the midwife. Mom was relaxed, calm & focused in her jet tub while dad hurried about the house getting everything in order for the birth of their baby. These two were not new to home birth, but the calm and tranquil energy in the house gave me the impression that they had done this many, many times. If Micah wanted to be a doula, or even a midwife, he would rock it. Micah and Treva attended hypo-birthing classes, and I can tell you from experience that these two were doing EVERYTHING right- it was perfect. Treva brought her baby down surge by surge with no fear and a whole lot of support from her amazing husband. Their 2.5 year old son even slept peacefully in the next room for most of the labour. Quite possibly my favourite moment of this birth was when Treva was crowning and her midwife told her to reach down to feel the babies head- we all felt the excitement and triumph radiating from within her. With only a few more contractions, this little guy was earth side and in the arms of his mom & dad. The connection & love in this family is beyond what words can describe, it was such a gift to be able to be a part of this experience with them.
