My first interaction with Roberta was wonderful, even though we were both on our way to something and had only 10 minutes to talk (which kept getting interrupted on both ends), we managed to form an excellent connection over the phone. It transferred over as soon as we met face to face, and I knew it was the start of a wonderful friendship. I was instantly excited to be a part of their journey and to document all the magical moments that went along with it. We kept in regular contact, and I felt almost as excited as mom & dad did the moment we knew it was time. It was one of the fastest births I’ve attended for a first time mom, with the exception of my own birth. Roberta stayed active right up until the last minute of her pregnancy, going for a nice bike ride on the seawall with Owen at Sunset just before active labour set in. I was not surprised one bit that this little lady hurried her way into the world! When I got the call to come, I hurried my way to them, only to get a call 15 minutes later to meet them at the hospital instead… she almost didn’t wait until they arrived at the hospital. And after everything, mama said… and I quote, ” I have to say… It really isn’t that bad.” It really wasn’t that bad… it was spectacular!
